DEVOTIONAL & TESTIMONIES

“Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.

Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;

He’s the One who will keep you on track.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

One day, after I received a devastating piece of news concerning a loved one, my world came to a standstill and my mind went blank. After the shock subsided, thousands of thoughts ran through my mind at a hundred miles per hour. How could this be happening? What was I going to do?

That dreadful day after work, I drove to the beach and sat on the wave breaker trying to make sense of the situation. In my mind, I was questioning God, myself and the situation and I was desperately thinking of the various options I would take and the outcomes.

After a long while, I looked up into the night sky and in the quietness, Proverbs 3:5-6 came to my mind. It was a passage that I had memorised as a new believer. Those verses reminded me that I was to trust in Him. To quote it in one breath is so easy but it takes a lifetime to internalise and live out the essence of these verses. Indeed, He will keep us on track when we trust in Him wholeheartedly and listen for His voice in all that we do. - By IS

Pray
Father, I choose to trust You in all situations. Help me to be sensitive to Your voice and direct my path.

“God be merciful to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.”

Psalm 67:1-2

We are living possibly in the darkest hour. Yet in the dark times stem the following truth: Jesus still saves! You are not defined by the hell you are going through, but you are defined by the heaven you are going to. You are not defined by what you do for God, but you are defined by what God already did for you. You are not defined by the darkness around you, but you are defined by the light inside you. You have the light of life when you walk in Christ!

As the Church, the gates of hell with the hosts of darkness will not, cannot, must not, and never will prevail against us! We are light. Indeed, God doesn’t call the perfect; He calls the willing. God doesn’t call the ones who have it all; He calls those who are willing to surrender it all.

Our faith is transcendent and transformational. Our faith teaches us to cross over obstacles, to break down walls, to push through crowds, to walk on water even in the midst of a storm. Our faith enables us to survive the fires of life, to overcome the den of lions, and to silence the serpent. Our faith empowers us to see the invisible, embrace the impossible and hope for the incredible.

So arise, daughters of the Most High and shine! - By SL

Pray
Father, may every fear be broken and give me boldness to arise and shine in the darkest of times.

“Love is patient, love is kind…”

1 Corinthians 13:4

While I was pregnant, I had difficulties wearing my sandals. One day, my little son noticed and said, “Mummy, let me help you.” He knelt and gingerly put on my sandals onto my feet. Right there, God showed me the many times I had helped put on my son’s shoes, modelling love to him.

Parenting has taught me unconditional love. From pregnancy, mothers endure incredible bodily and birth pains. After birth, the days and nights of infant care seem endless. Once our babies become toddlers, temper tantrums come to test one’s patience. At times, our children fall ill, and we nurse them back to health. As they grow up, exam stress, teenage hormones, relationship issues, etc. set in. There is no easy love with parenting. The NKJV translation of “makrothumei” is “suffer long” – to persevere, to be patient – that’s often what parenting is.

We love as God first loved us. (1 John 4:19) As a child of God, I have been a recipient of God’s unconditional love and relentless patience, despite my countless moments of rebellion and wrongful ways.

Likewise, our children love as we first love them, unconditionally and patiently. As my son reciprocate his love through this touching gesture, I am freshly encouraged to keep loving my children well, and model God’s love to the world around me. - By WT

Pray
Father, let Your love be perfected in me, and let me be a model of Your love to others.
