During my third pregnancy, I was filled with fear and anxieties. With severe gestational diabetes (GD) in my first two pregnancies, the doctor told us it was inevitable for this pregnancy too. Fear crept in as thoughts of the daily injections and restriction of diet filled my mind. There was also the fear that the baby would be affected while inside my womb. Within a few weeks into the pregnancy, severe nausea began to hit me and as with past experiences, it was going to last till the baby was born.
As the overwhelming fear sought to overcome me, a greater resolve grew - no longer was I going to be held captive to fear but through prayer, Papa God was going to deliver me out of this. Each time the voices of fear tapped on my shoulder, I’d rebuke them and silenced it by shutting the door to fear, then spoke words of God’s goodness and healing to my spirit. Though I felt weak physically and mentally, I felt God strengthened me spiritually and the chains of fear would break away as I prayed. It was not by my own might but God who’d made me strong in my weakest moment just as He’d said in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” In 2019, I had a “GD-free”, almost “nausea-free” pregnancy and Jade Esther was born healthy and well.
Women of Witness, He has not called us to be strong on our own but to ‘be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might’, fearless and obedient to Him. May we walk in the fullness of His calling and promises for each of us – precious, redeemed and gifted to be a blessing to all around us!

“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays…”
1 Corinthians 14:14
As mothers, wives and daughters, there are many instances we find ourselves unable to care directly for our loved ones. We have no control and feel helpless! Praying in the spirit is the strongest safety net we can spread beneath them!
I once felt a burden while my elder son was out on a field mission while serving in the army for his National Service. A few days later, he called home and I asked him if anything had happened on that certain Saturday, for I remembered praying in tongues at length after feeling a nagging anxiousness in the mid-morning.
He replied, “O mom, I had sat down by a tree and unknowingly put my hand over a hole in the ground. My sergeant noticed it and asked me to move away. It was a snake’s nest! The snake was inside but didn’t come up and all is well!”
When our loved ones are out of our reach, they are still within our Father’s touch, His loving arms stretch wider and His heart embraces deeper than we can. Pray in the spirit! - By TC
Pray Father, I can entrust my loved ones completely to You. I ask for the blood of Jesus to cover them and protect them from all harm and danger.
