It is about responding in love and being one with Holy Spirit

“Prayer ministry? That’s for pastors and gifted people!! I cannot!” my mind exploded in disbelief when I saw the volunteer assignments on the spreadsheet. Two months earlier, I felt a tiny leap in my spirit when the church announced the call for volunteers for WOW! Manila 2025 at service. With this tiny stirring, I signed up by faith. This would be my first time in my 20 years in Cornerstone, serving overseas. In the weeks leading up to WOW, I was strongly tempted to request for a reassignment. I was certain the Usher ministry would be a better fit for my limited skill sets and I could just follow the instructions of my leader. Nonetheless, I eventually submitted to the decision as I did not want to trouble the organizing team.

Outwardly, I was doing okay, but internally, I was overwhelmed with the fear of failing the Lord and not being able to deliver what the ladies had come to the conference to find. I prayed and prayed, friends encouraged and gave words of knowledge - the anxiety persisted. I was in tears from frustration.

Then, on the morning of the last day of WOW!, a sister-in-Christ shared a simple truth - His love never fails. Even without gifts, I can still minister, simply out of the Father’s love for the person. Something clicked and the weight finally lifted. That day, I was able to pray freely, no longer pressured to have the right words to say to “deliver” results. It was no longer about me. It is about responding in love and being one with Holy Spirit in our desires to see the person healed, to see the person restored. Will the healing I claimed for the lady really take place? Will the family situation I lifted to the Lord eventually be resolved? I don’t think I’ll ever know, but I know now this truth, more certainly than before: “that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” - Pearl Tang (Singapore)
