“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son.”
1 John 5:9
“Mommy, what’s an affidavit?” I was tickled at my then 9-year old daughter’s accurate articulation of such a big word which she heard me say often in my line of work as a lawyer.
“It’s a witness’ written account, confirming everything made in that statement is true and accurate.” I explained as simply as I could.
My daughter immediately exclaimed, “That makes the Bible God’s affidavit!”
I was convicted by my daughter’s simple and profound observation. God is a witness of His own testament of love – the Word made flesh, our heavenly Father’s account sworn by the Blood of His Son, and by the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit through signs, wonders and miracles.

Likewise, our lives are God’s affidavit – we are witnesses to the testimony of Jesus. We will give an account of our lives; whether we have acted in faith and obedience or in unbelief and disobedience. If we understand the gravity of being a false witness in a court of law, how much more when it comes to our God, the Judge of the living and the dead. - By CN
