“And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.”
1 Peter 5:10
God has sustained me for almost seven years now since my Ocular Myasthenia Gravis (OMG) relapsed. OMG is a rare autoimmune disease affecting the neuro-muscular junction of the skeletal muscle. When the relapse happened in 2015, I experienced having droopy eyelid, double vision, and fatigue.
I could not interact with people for more than ten minutes because my eyelids would start to droop. The discomfort made me refrain from talking to people and the feeling of isolation took a toll on me. I could not preach for few months because it was affecting the nerves on my throat. The feeling of hopelessness made me doubt God’s healing power.
In 2018, I asked the Lord why He allowed me to go through this, and I heard Him say, “I am working out the fruit of long-suffering in you.” I cried after I heard those words because all the questions and struggles in my heart were lifted, and I was able to welcome and embrace the process.
Thankfully, God used my doctor to manage the symptoms, and I knew in my heart that the set time for my healing will come. I have been improving since and my healing is soon coming. - By BM
