DEVOTIONAL & TESTIMONIES

“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ,

and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those

who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”

2 Corinthians 2:14-15

In October of 2020, my oldest son, Caleb, died of a heart condition that we did not know about. I experienced heartbreak like I had never experienced before. My heart was broken; my life was broken.

In the midst of my crying that day, I said out loud, “We are so broken, we should go feed others.” It was not premeditated and definitely did not come from me. I know now that it was the Holy Spirit speaking to me, through me. My friend was there to witness what I said. In a time when I did not know how to carry on with my life, God gave me the direction for the days ahead. In the days since Caleb passed, my husband and I have had many opportunities to share God’s love and salvation to various groups and seen many people, especially teenagers, turn to Christ. As the Scripture verse says, God “through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” Even in death, we witnessed first-hand that Caleb’s testimonies were very much alive.

In God’s kingdom, no suffering we go through on this earth is wasted. God can use our pain when we choose to lay it at His feet. When we allow God to trans

orm us daily from within, exchanging our ashes for His beauty, it is inevitable that His fragrance will come forth – all the more through the cracks of our brokenness. - By DW

Pray Father, take our broken lives and use us to feed others and share the knowledge of Christ to everyone in every place.

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.” Psalm 23:5

I remember the first year that I spent overseas in university as being filled with the greatest highs and lows of my life. I indulged in whatever I wanted, whenever I felt like it. It did not take long before my impetuous ways led to a huge conflict where I found myself at the brink of an emotional breakdown.

I had been away from the Lord for some years then, but somehow, I had brought my Bible with me. As I was about to head into a confrontation, I decided to open my Bible at random and landed on Psalm 23, verse 5 in particular which says, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.” Even when I was far from Him yet He still showed me grace and mercy.

This imagery of the Lord preparing a feast is as if a picnic has been set for we in the middle of the battleground where we can rest and even feast in spite of the war that is raging around us. The Lord Himself protects and surrounds us so that we can have complete confidence and peace. He has enabled us not just to survive but to thrive; our cups will overflow with His blessings! - By JN

Pray Father, I know that You are with me in this battle. Help me to see the feast that You have prepared for me, and to have the confidence to stand firm in You.

“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”

John 8:36

“Aunty, how are you feeling?” I asked softly. Lying there on the hospital bed, Aunty Y tilted aside slowly and opened her eyes. When she saw that it was me, a beaming smile began to glow on her face. Her countenance changed almost instantly. I bore witness of the peace of God that was with Aunty. Her smile was a strong assurance that God’s presence was with her despite the unbearable pain that she had to endure.

I visited Aunty Y thrice and that was my last one. I still remember the first time I saw her in the hospital. Her condition was not very optimistic; she was having multiple sores in her joints, and she was feeling utterly miserable and angry in pain.

We chatted and she began to recount every woe that she had experienced in her life since childhood. As she continued to lament in sorrow, our chat began to take a different turn. A divine exchange between Jesus and Aunty Y occurred miraculously and graciously. Aunty released all her anguish hurts and sorrows to Jesus who took them all. In this exchange, she felt the peace and joy of God in her life for the longest time ever.

Aunty Y was set free by Jesus Christ! “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows...” (Isaiah 53:4a) - By WL

Pray Father, lead me to a place of divine exchange with You and set me free from the bondages of sin, shame and hurt.
